NY Posthuman Research Group
<Let's envision desirable futures for humans and non-humans alike>
The NY Posthuman Research Group is calling for scholars, artists, scientists, as well as other beings, interested in the posthuman turn. We cover different areas of expertise: posthumanism, transhumanism, antihumanism, metahumanism, new materialisms, non-human personhood, digital humanities, among others.
Where & How
We meet every two months in different universities based in NYC. In the first hour 3 presenters offer different takes on the posthuman (10 minutes each), followed by a 10 minutes discussion. In the second hour, we open the discussion to other topics, projects, visions.
Who and How
If you have expertise on the subject, please, prepare a short presentation of yourself (it can be formal or informal), answering these three questions:
1. How does your work relate to the posthuman?
2. What is your take on the posthuman?
3. What are your goals within the group?
If you do not have expertise on the subject, you are welcome as well. What we suggest, is that you come as an auditor at first, and then become more actively involved once you become more familiar with the subject. You can introduce yourself as an auditor when you first attend.
Scientific Board
Dr. Francesca Ferrando, Dr. Kevin LaGrandeur, Dr. Yunus Tuncel.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - ADOPT A POSTHUMAN
If you live in the NY area and you plan to attend our next NY Posthuman Research Meeting, you are eligible to adopt a posthuman. We regularly receive requests from people interested to be our online guests. If you can bring your computer or iphone to our bimonthly meetings, you can adopt a posthuman who lives outside of NYC or cannot attend due to physical impediments.
How to do:
1. If you are interested, please write to Dr. Ferrando. We will try to connect people who have similar research interests: this could be the beginning of an inspiring collaboration.
2. The week before our meeting, you will befriend each other on Skype/Facetime.
3. The day of the meeting, you will bring your computer/iphone with you, set it on a seat close to you, and give your posthuman friend the freedom to intervene in the discussion like one of the physical participants.
Thanks to Corinna Chan for this intriguing idea.
